Leadership Talk 2024 Highlights
We Are the Leaders We Have Been Looking For
The Crown Family School of Social Work, Policy, and Practice hosted a spring Leadership Talk sponsored by Family Action Network (FAN) with an overview and exploration of our new Social Sector Leadership (SSL) and Non-Profit Management program delivered by Nicole Marwell, PhD, who is a Professor and Director of the SSL Master's Degree program.
This compelling Leadership Talk was a conversation with one of the nation's preeminent scholars and New York bestselling author, Eddie S. Glaude Jr., PhD, who is the James S. McDonnell Distinguished University Professor of African American Studies at Princeton University moderated by Lisa L. Moore, PhD, LICSW, Senior Lecturer and Director of the Social Work, Policy and Social Administration program.
The keynote speaker Eddie S. Glaude Jr., PhD discussed his new book, "We Are the Leaders We Have Been Looking For ."
Glaude made the case that the hard work of becoming a better person should be a critical feature of Black politics. Through virtuoso interpretations of Martin Luther King, Jr., Malcolm X, and Ella Baker, Dr. Glaude will show how ordinary people can be the heroes that our democracy so desperately requires rather than outsourcing their needs to leaders who purportedly represent them.
