5:30pm – 8pm: Crown Family School Alumni Awards and Reunion Celebration Dinner
- Dean Deborah Gorman-Smith invites you to a ceremony honoring the recipients of the Edith Abbott, Social Impact, Milestone Achievement, and Volunteer Leadership awards. The awards celebration will lead directly into a festive dinner in celebration of our milestone graduating classes from 1976-2021, hosted by the Crown Family School Alumni Weekend Reunion Committee.
SATURDAY, MAY 2, 2026
10:30am – 12pm: Rhoda G. Sarnat Lecture: Featuring Gabriela Zapata-Alma, LCSW, CADC
- Gabriela (they/elle) serves as the Associate Director of the National Center on Domestic Violence, Trauma, and Mental Health, as well as holds a halftime appointment with the University of Chicago, where they direct the Alcohol and Other Drug Counselor Training Program within the Crown Family School of Social Work, Policy, and Practice.
12pm - 1:30pm: Crown Family School Lunch: Staying Connected
- Current and future Crown Family School alumni and their families are invited for a festive meal where alumni leadership will be available to share opportunities for remaining connected to the Crown Family School community post-graduation, highlighting our CASE mentorship program, upcoming regional engagement events, and ways to volunteer.
2pm – 3:15pm: Designing the Future of Knowledge
- Location: Mandel Hall, 1131 E. 57th Street
- Please join us for Designing the Future of Knowledge, a conversation with President Paul Alivisatos, AB’81, and University Trustee Rebecca Jarvis, AB’03, about the University’s ambitions for the future. Together, they will discuss how the University can deepen its distinctive approaches to education and generate powerful scholarship that moves the world forward.
3pm - 7pm: Landscape of Discovery: A Celebration on the Quad
- Location: Main Quadrangle, 58th Street and University Avenue
- Gather on the quads to celebrate our entire University community with an evening of food, drink, entertainment, and more.

- Accommodation reservations and cancellations are the sole responsibility of the individual. Cancellations are subject to hotel policy.
