To and Through Project
Mission
The To & Through Project strives to create equitable education outcomes for Chicago Public Schools students by helping educators use data for inquiry and impact.
Vision
Schools should be places where all students have access to equitable learning experiences and pathways from the middle grades through college graduation.
We recognize the legacy of racism and work to interrogate our individual and collective biases. We accept the discomfort of conflict and find the courage to interrupt inequitable mindsets, policies, and practices.
We believe that students, families, and communities are experts in their own experience, and we respect educators as professionals. We share data and tools, not answers.
We prioritize students over institutions and take responsibility for the impact and consequences of our data
We are learners who prioritize the collection and incorporation of feedback.
We value each other as individuals and human beings, and we laugh, when we can.
We provide both quantitative and qualitative data on the educational journeys of Chicago Public Schools students, offering resources like the To&Through Milestones Tool and the Student Stories Database to inform strategic support efforts.
Partnering with education stakeholders, we work to interpret data in ways that support shifts in educational practices. Through initiatives like the To&Through Middle Grades Network and professional learning workshops, we help educators apply data-driven insights to improve student outcomes.
Through public engagement events, workshops, and the To&Through Data Collaboratives, we bring together a diverse group of leaders to share research and strategies for supporting CPS students, promoting dialogue that influences meaningful change.
Our work focuses on realizing equitable learning experiences and outcomes for CPS students. With reports like the Educational Attainment of CPS Students, we track key data that informs efforts to close equity gaps and support student success from middle grades through college graduation.
