Stacie Tao is a social welfare policy researcher dedicated to examining economic insecurity among families with children and underrepresented racial/ethnic groups. Her research is focused on two veins. The first aims to evaluate the role of income support policies, including cash transfers and the Child Tax Credit, on child welfare and parenting outcomes. The second addresses racial/ethnic disparities in income poverty and material hardship rates, particularly within the Asian American population disaggregated by its individual Asian ethnic groups. Currently, she works with Dr. Margaret Thomas on the Breathe Guaranteed Income Pilot Study based in LA County.
Prior to joining the Crown Family School, Stacie received her PhD and MSW from Columbia University, as well as a BA in both Social Welfare and Early Education from the University of Washington. She previously worked with child welfare agencies, early intervention organizations, and Head Start classrooms in Seattle, WA.
