Melanie Nadon is a scholar whose research examines the sociopolitical dynamics that shape social policy implementation and outcomes, with particular attention to the intersections of poverty, place, and race. Her work centers on child welfare policy and its influence on children, youth, and families involved in the child welfare system.
Drawing on professional experience in nonprofit child welfare policy practice, Melanie brings an administrative and political lens to her teaching and research. Her work aims to generate applied insights that inform and strengthen both policy and practice in the field.
Melanie earned a PhD from the University of Chicago Crown Family School of Social Work, Policy, and Practice, an MPA from the Evans School of Public Policy and Governance at the University of Washington, and a BA from the University of La Verne.
