Doctoral Research Assistant: Health Systems Reform and Decentralization in Honduras

Principal Investigator: Alan Zarychta, Ph.D. Crown Family School of Social Work, Policy and Practice, The University of Chicago Responsibilities: participate in ongoing research in Honduras to analyze and co-write an article on the Assessment of Community Participation in Primary Healthcare Planning and Management in Honduras

 

2020-2022                   

Graduate Research Assistant: Center for Global Health-UCGH, The University of Chicago Medicine and Biological Sciences, Chicago, USA

Responsibilities: Designed and conducted Community health needs assessment in Ghana (The Ashanti and Central Regions) and Nigeria (Ondo and Ekiti state), using mixed methods to identify critical health needs in rural and hard-to-reach communities in West Africa. Findings from the research contribute to learnings on community health, and as program improvement resources for UCGH local and international affiliates. Conducted a 6-year Kiphart Foundation/Center for Global Health Ghana Project Impact assessment to document the impact of their community intervention projects such as water and sanitation, primary health facilities support, community school computer laboratory installations, and school farm support projects in Ghana and Nigeria.

Summer Research Fellowship: International Rescue Committee– IRC

Responsibilities: Designed a problem-driven iteration protocol to evaluate the PDIA process in Northern Nigeria and a Political Economy Analysis adoption strategy for implementing a multiyear program to improve maternal and newborn healthcare delivery in conflict/emergency settings in five countries of Somalia, Nigeria, South Sudan, Niger, and Cameroon.

Graduate Research Assistant: Advancing Health Equity- leading Care, Payment, and Systems Transformation (AHE)

Responsibilities: Conducted a case study on how the AHE Delaware team uses a health equity approach to improve access to care for the black pediatric population in Delaware.

Chinasa U Imo is an accomplished development and global health policy strategist. She is currently pursuing a Ph.D. at the University of Chicago Crown Family School of Social Work, Policy, and Practice. Her interests lie in utilizing political economy analysis and participatory approaches to examine and formulate policies and programs that strengthen public health systems, enhance governance, foster social accountability, and advance access to quality healthcare. Her primary focus encompasses underserved populations in low-resourced, hard-to-reach, volatile settings.
