Here are your next steps as you prepare to enroll at the Crown Family School.
Confirm your enrollment by logging in to your application status page and clicking the Reply to Offer of Admission icon.
Set up your University Email Account and CNet ID. Your CNet ID is a username you will select and use to access most online services at the University of Chicago. A CNet ID is required to apply for housing and financial aid, manage your personal information, and register for courses. You will continue to receive email correspondence about your next steps and opportunities through the email address you used to apply. However, you should check your UChicago account regularly for current student communications.
Here are some of the University systems that you will have access to with your CNET ID:
- MyCrownSchool.uchicago.edu is the internal portal for all Crown family School students. On this site, you can find course schedules, the alumni contact database, upcoming events, as well as other valuable resources. Note that many of the SSL courses will be added to the database later in the Spring and early Summer.
- MyUChicago Portal is the University portal you will access for a variety of resources, including registration.
- UChicago Student Employment website to apply for University-related jobs (both work-study and non-work study), keep in mind most fall jobs won't be posted until mid to late summer.
- University Email: Note that your CNET ID is also the prefix of your email address. Your CNET ID cannot be changed once you create it. However, you may set up an email alias, which you might use, for example, if you change your name and your CNET ID no longer represents your identity accurately.
- Also visit the CNET Overview site where you can find further information about the UChicago wireless network, the virtual private network (cVPN), and two-factor authentication (2FA).
Tuition Scholarship
You are reviewed for the Crown Family Schools merit-based scholarship (based on a holistic review of your application) during the application process. No additional paperwork or applications are necessary. Your award will be included in your admission letter.
Federal Financial Aid
For U.S. citizens and permanent residents, in order to be eligible for federal financial aid such as state and federal grants, loans, and work study, you need to file the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) at fafsa.gov. We encourage you to file your FAFSA early, as some types of assistance are limited and may have early deadlines. Our Federal School code is 001774. You can find more information at Graduate Financial Aid.
- We encourage you to complete the FAFSA even if you aren't sure you will qualify for financial aid.
- Please claim your CNet account to ensure that the Graduate Financial Aid Office can match your FAFSA to your student account.
- International applicants do not complete the FAFSA, but will submit the "Declaration and Certification of Finances" form during the application process.
An official award letter outlining your financial aid will be sent to you once your file has been reviewed and your eligibility has been determined. You can review your financial aid package on your My.UChicago portal.
If you're ready to enroll this Summer or Autumn, submit your enrollment deposit and disclosure form to secure your spot in this year's incoming class. You can complete this step by returning to the application portal.
Please note: The enrollment deposit required to confirm a student's place in the incoming class is strictly nonrefundable. Submission of this deposit constitutes a formal acknowledgment and acceptance of this policy. Regardless of subsequent changes in enrollment status, including withdrawal or non-attendance, the deposit will not be returned under any circumstances.
Students admitted to the Social Work, Social Policy, and Social Administration A.M. Full-Time, Part-Time, and Advanced Standing programs must complete a field placement questionnaire.
The questionnaire provides information that helps the Office of Field Education match your interests with your foundational field placement assignment. Full-Time and Part-Time program students will receive their field placement assignments before Orientation.
Advanced Standing program students will coordinate with the Field Education team to secure their placement.
Visit Field Education for more information.
Submission of an official final transcript is a requirement for enrollment. The transcript must show the conferral of your undergraduate degree, the date of conferral, and your area of study. Transcripts must be sent directly to the Admissions Office from the registrar or records office of the institution granting the degree. Transcripts submitted directly from the student are not considered official documents issued by the degree-granting institution.
Note: Please do not submit your official transcripts until your degree has been conferred by your degree program's college or university.

Additionally, the insurance must cover medical care provided in the Chicago area for both emergency and routine, non-emergency medical situations (or, if the student will not be in Chicago, it must provide this coverage wherever the student will be residing and studying during the academic year).
You can find additional information about the University of Chicago Student Health Insurance Policy (U-SHIP), including instructions on how to opt out, by visiting UChicago U-SHIP.
The Dean of Students Office will assist all newly admitted students in the A.M. in Social Work, Social Policy, and Social Administration program with the course registration process.
- For students beginning in the Advanced Standing Social Work A.M. program, prior to the start of the Summer Quarter in April/early May, the Dean of Students office will admin enroll you into your Summer quarter classes.

You may view your tuition bill online once you have access to your CNET ID. You will be able to access information about charges (tuition, fees, housing, etc.), payments (cash, check, etc.) and credits (financial aid, scholarships, etc.) in your My.UChicago student portal.
As a student or payer, you have several options to manage your student account:
Each of these options has enrollment and application procedures required for participation. These should be evaluated, selected, and executed each enrollment period.
Please visit the University of Chicago Bursar for additional information regarding the University's annual billing calendar, refunds, and payments.
The UChicago Bursar also maintains a checklist for incoming graduate students that you may consult to ensure you are prepared for the upcoming academic year.
Steps to Obtaining a Student ID Card
Students can obtain a physical UChicago Card by scheduling an appointment with the ID and Privileges Office, located in the first-floor lobby of the Joseph Regenstein Library at 1100 E 57th St., Chicago, IL 60637.
Students may upload a photo for their UChicago Card through the UChicago MyPhoto Portal or have their picture taken in person when picking up their ID.
If you have questions, please contact the ID & Privileges Office at ipo@uchicago.edu.
The U-Pass program, administered by the Chicago Transit Authority (CTA), provides eligible students with unlimited rides on CTA trains and buses during active academic terms for a flat, quarterly fee. This initiative is designed to offer convenient, reduced-cost transportation, supporting student access to campus, field placements, and the broader Chicago metropolitan area.
Students in the Full-Time and Part-Time programs may opt in or out of the U-Pass program once per academic year, prior to the start of the Autumn Quarter. Advanced Standing students may make their selection at the beginning of the Summer Quarter, which marks the start of their academic year.
U-Passes are issued via Ventra cards, which are intended to remain active throughout a student’s enrollment. These cards may only be used on Pace Suburban Bus (Pace) if personal fare has been added. U-Passes are not valid on Metra commuter rail services.
Please note that U-Pass entitlements are only active during academic terms. Students are expected to add value to their Ventra accounts for travel during breaks or when accompanying guests. In such cases, the first ride will be covered by the U-Pass, while additional fares will be charged at the regular rate. If a negative balance occurs, students must add funds to resume use of their card.
For additional information about campus transportation options, please visit Transportation at UChicago.
