Wen Wen, PhD, earned her bachelor's degree in Applied Psychology from Renmin University of China and her doctorate in Human Development and Family Sciences from the University of Texas at Austin. Her research focuses on understanding youth development within context, with the goal of uncovering and promoting resilience, adaptation, and agency in adolescents facing adverse environments. Her work centers on two primary research lines: (1) examining adaptive and maladaptive parent-child relationships in disadvantaged families through the lens of family systems theory, and (2) empowering marginalized youth by exploring how they develop psychological resilience (e.g., fewer internalizing symptoms), physiological adaptation (e.g., healthier cortisol patterns), and behavioral agency (e.g., increased school engagement) in the context of adversity.
