Margaret Marion, AM’13, is a clinical social worker committed to liberation-focused and culturally responsive practice. Based on the South Side of Chicago, she has provided bilingual English-Spanish therapy in school, hospital, and community mental health settings. Her work is grounded in radical healing models, relational frameworks, and cultural healing traditions.

Margaret is primarily a Narrative Therapy practitioner and has received advanced training in trauma-informed approaches, including expressive therapies and Attachment-Informed Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR). She integrates these modalities to support individuals and communities navigating systems of oppression and healing.

In addition to her clinical work, Margaret is a storyteller and community educator. She serves on the Artistic Board of 2nd Story Chicago and has led story-based programming in partnership with the Illinois Prison Project, the Treatment Not Trauma campaign, Lawrence Hall Youth Services, Chicago Public Schools, and the Chicago Park District.

Margaret has served as a Field Consultant for core students at the University of Chicago Crown Family School of Social Work, Policy, and Practice since 2020. In 2024, she also worked as a Reflective Consultant with the Coalition of Immigrant Mental Health, supporting two South Side migrant shelters.

Her previous professional experience includes roles at the YWCA Park Francis, Youth Guidance, Mercy Home for Boys and Girls, ACERO Charter Schools, and Chicago Adventure Therapy.
