Carolina Goncalves earned her PhD in Human Development from Tufts University and completed a postdoctoral fellowship at Vanderbilt University before joining the University of Chicago Crown Family School of Social Work, Policy, and Practice. Her research examines how structural and sociopolitical contexts shape intergenerational health, stress, and educational outcomes. She also studies how culturally grounded factors—including identity development, cultural socialization, and critical consciousness—can foster resilience and promote positive developmental outcomes among youth.
