Robin Bartram, PhD Promoted to Associate Professor with Tenure
The Crown Family School of Social Work, Policy, and Practice is proud to announce that Robin Bartram has been promoted to Associate Professor with tenure, effective July 1, 2025. This well-deserved recognition highlights her significant scholarly contributions and innovative research in the field of social work.
Robin’s research focuses on how the material aspects of housing and the built environment contribute to the reproduction of intersectional inequalities. Using ethnographic methods, she examines how frontline workers tasked with regulating housing quality interpret substandard conditions and assign responsibility for improvements. Her work extends traditional social work research on human services to the domain of housing, shedding light on how material encounters influence professional evaluations and housing policy implementation.
Robin’s ongoing research continues to expand the theoretical conception of environmental injustice, encompassing not only acute issues such as natural disasters and toxic sites but also the unequal distribution of routine material dilapidation in housing and the built environment. Her innovative approach bridges gaps in the literature and offers valuable insights for advancing social work practice and housing policy.
