Lindsay Bostwick
Lindsey is a statistician at the U.S. Department of Justice. After six years of working as a research and policy analyst for the Illinois Criminal Justice Information Authority, Lindsay earned a PhD in Public Policy at Carnegie Mellon University. She completed a postdoctoral fellowship at the Pennsylvania Commission on Sentencing, and subsequently worked for the non-profit Justice Research and Statistics Association.
As a statistician with the Bureau of Justice Statistics, Lindsay is responsible for overseeing and developing new national criminal justice data collections, as well as conducting research and analysis. Lindsay also writes policy recommendations, reports, and presents policy-relevant research findings.
In her role, she conducts research that produces national statistics and reports and manages grants to external research organizations. She began her career as a research analyst at the Illinois Criminal Justice Information Authority. In 2012, she chose to further advance her statistical expertise by pursuing a PhD in Public Policy and Statistics at Carnegie Mellon University’s Heinz College. In 2019, she completed a postdoctoral fellowship focused on sentencing with Penn State and the Pennsylvania Commission on Sentencing. She later worked as a Research Associate with the Justice Research and Statistics Association before joining BJS in 2023.
