Police Accountability and Reform

Join us for a roundtable discussion on police accountability and reform efforts in Chicago, including the ways we can create transparency, advance a culture of respect, and build safer communities. As we mourn the tragic murder of Tyre Nichols in Memphis, this conversation is an opportunity to understand current police reform initiatives and our role in advancing systemic change that will strengthen public trust and public safety.

Guiding this conversation are four civic leaders who have been closely involved in developing policies and practices designed to increase accountability in the Chicago Police Department. They include Sharon Fairley, Professor from Practice at the University of Chicago Law School and recent Chief Administrator for the Civilian Office of Police Accountability (COPA), Joe Ferguson, Former Inspector General of Chicago, Ghian Foreman, Chicago Police Board President, and Oswaldo Gomez, community organizer and Vice President of the City of Chicago Community Commission for Public Safety and Accountability.

Aaron Gottlieb, Assistant Professor at the Crown Family School of Social Work, Public Policy, and Practice, will moderate the conversation.
