Masters Admissions

Requirements for Application

The application process for both Master's Programs is the same and Crown Family School's criteria for admission to either program includes an earned baccalaureate degree from a college or university accredited by a recognized regional accrediting association. While many of our applicants have majored in psychology or sociology, our students come from a wide variety of academic backgrounds including, but not limited to, Arts & Sciences, Business, Communication, Education, Fine and Performing Arts, and Law.

For the Social Work, Social Policy, and Social Administration Advanced Standing Master's Program, we require an undergraduate Bachelor of Social Work (BSW) degree.

Our programs all start in the Autumn Quarter with the exception of the Advanced Standing Master's Program, which starts in the summer.

Qualified University of Chicago college students who wish to pursue a joint AM degree with the Social Work, Social Policy, and Social Administration program should consult with their AB/AM adviser in the College and with the Director of Admissions at Crown Family School as soon as their first year, but no later than early in their third year.

Financial Aid

Over 95 percent of Crown Family School master’s students receive merit- and need-based tuition gift aid. Each year, Crown Family School awards full and partial tuition scholarships. To be eligible for Crown Family School gift aid, you must fill out the Crown Family School Financial Data section in the online application.  Second- and third-year students may also re-apply for gift aid each year. 99% of returning students have their gift aid renewed.

The majority of our students use Federal financial aid in the form of student loans and work study funds to bridge the gap between their Crown Family School tuition gift aid and the cost of attendance.  To be eligible for federal financial aid, you must file a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). The institutional code for the FAFSA is 001774.
