Practice Spotlight: Understanding the CPS Equity Framework in Action

Join us to hear from leaders in Chicago Public School office of equity as they revisit core elements of the CPS Equity Framework .

To engage in school-wide equity work, it is essential for educators to build common understanding of foundational equity concepts from the CPS Equity Framework. Join us on Tuesday May 9th, 2023 at Noon to hear from Chicago Public School’s Dr. Fatima Cooke, Chief Equity, Engagement, Strategy Officer and Evangelina (Eva) Covarrubias, Executive Director of the Office of Equity as they revisit core elements of the CPS Equity Framework such as the CPS definition of equity, Targeted Universalism, and Liberatory Thinking, and relates them to work within schools. Following the presentation, audience members will have the opportunity participate in a learning session with the CPS Equity Office that will provide an opportunity to (1) build shared language on racial equity to apply to their individual role and work; (2) make meaning and connections between the four dimensions to advance equity; and (3) begin building a toolkit that can help them practice the four dimensions.
