When you become a Crown Family School student, you become part of the University of Chicago -- one of the world’s leading intellectual communities. Your graduate education is grounded at the Crown Family School, but your experience extends across the University. 

Crown Family School students are part of a broader intellectual community that brings together scholars and students working across an extraordinary range of disciplines and fields. Lectures, workshops, research centers, and institutes across campus offer opportunities to encounter new ideas and perspectives and to connect the questions at the heart of social work, policy, and practice with scholarship and expertise from across the University. Students may also have opportunities to pursue coursework outside the Crown Family School when it complements their program of study. 

The University’s intellectual life extends well beyond the classroom. The Institute of Politics, for example, brings political and civic leaders to campus for conversations, fellowships, and programs that connect students with public life and public service. Across the University, visiting scholars, policymakers, practitioners, authors, and other leaders contribute to a constant exchange of ideas through public lectures, conferences, workshops, and events. 

Students can also take advantage of the University’s rich arts and cultural life. The Logan Center for the Arts, Court Theatre, Smart Museum of Art, and UChicago Presents, among others, bring artists, exhibitions, performances, and cultural programming to campus throughout the year. University libraries, student organizations, recreation facilities, and other campus resources further extend the opportunities available to Crown Family School students.
