Field Education
Broaden Your Understanding
Effective social workers must have a broad understanding of the roots of systemic problems like poverty and inadequate healthcare. They must also have the interpersonal skills and professional competence to effect meaningful change on the ground. As a Crown Family School student, you will conduct fieldwork and attend classes at the same time, experiencing the constant interplay between theory and practice as you develop your own professional social work identity.
Each year, students are placed in one of our over 600 partner agencies in the Chicago area. With the support of a field consultant and the Office of Field Education, you will gain hands-on experience in both clinical social work and social administration.

Field Placement Sites
The Crown Family School has relationships with over 600 agencies and programs throughout the Chicago area. Students work in the field for an estimated 225,000 hours each year. Students are guided by practitioners who teach them the best practices while providing services to these communities. Please note that agencies may have multiple programs in several different communities and that there are often multiple students working at a particular site.
