Career & Leadership Development: Career Talks on Medical Social Work

The University of Chicago Crown Family School of Social Work, Policy, and Practice invites students, alumni, staff, faculty, and prospective students to explore career pathways in medical social work.

Hosted by Career and Leadership Development, this session features Crown Family School alum Mel Lamagna, AM’00, who will discuss the realities of working in hospital settings, including interdisciplinary collaboration, patient advocacy, and navigating complex healthcare systems. Drawing from professional experience, Lamagna will outline the skills required to support patients and families across clinical environments.

Participants will have the opportunity to ask questions, gain practical insight, and better understand career trajectories within healthcare social work.
