Course Number:
This course will provide an overview of the theories, clinical approaches & reality based intervention strategies of U.S. based Harm Reduction theory. Beginning as a political response to the AIDS Epidemic, this set of practices can be as controversial as Syringe Exchange and mundane as seat belts in cars. This course will explore the lived experiences of the most marginalized clients and offer students an opportunity to think through the necessary partnership of multi-threshold (Macro) program design and clinical responses (micro) to supporting our most vulnerable community. This course fulfills the Human Diversity Requirement.
